Tree of Life

About

At present you are (probably) on a relatively small ball of earth, fire, water and air known as Earth; which turns on its axis approximately once every 23 hours, 56 minutes and 4.1 seconds. Your turning sphere of elements is spinning around a larger ball of burning gas (864938 miles in diameter) called the Sun, around once every 356.25 days. The Sun is one of many stars that belong to a galaxy named the Milky Way (a around 100,000 light years wide). The Sun orbits the Milky Way’s centre at an average rate of once every 226 million years. There are many different galaxies, but I hope for the purpose of this blog we don’t need to worry too much about those. Which begs the question – what is the purpose of this blog?

Well like Earth, the Sun, the Milky Way and all the other galaxies … it doesn’t really need one, it is just here. But that doesn’t mean it is useless! I’d like to use this blog to share information on the many life forms that we share our planet with. Some of them are actually very similar to us, others appear quite different. However looks can be deceptive! We are (on some level) related to all of them …

so lets meet the family!! =)
